Treve Ring - Sommelier

When other girls were playing with dolls, I was making cupcakes.  When my friends were into fashion magazines, I was reading cookbooks. My first real job?  A barista.  That interest in what fuels us, along with growing up amid the bounty of beautiful Vancouver Island, led me to a career celebrating all things ‘imbibable’ and edible.

I am a certified sommelier, wine consultant, writer and editor. I am currently the Communications Manager and Sommelier for Edible British Columbia. In addition to writing the food and wine Amuse Bouche Blog for Edible BC, I’m a regular contributor to EAT Magazine and the online editor of drink, for EATmagazine.ca.  I have also written for other publications throughout the Pacific Northwest including Metro Vancouver, Cityfood, BC Wine Trails, Wine Islands, Focus and Visitor’s Choice.  When not writing about wine, I handle the public relations for a Vancouver Island hotel group as well as take on freelance PR contracts in the hospitality industry.

I have worked for the BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association, as Catering Manager at Swans Suite Hotel, and have managed a season at Saanichton’s Marley Farm Winery.  In 2007 I was invited to be a judge at Oregon’s Northwest Wine Summit, and was also awarded a Les Dames d’Escoffier scholarship for my wine writing and studies.

I drink, write about, consult on, purchase, advise regarding, blog about, and very much enjoy wine – and other like bevvies.   This site, www.treve.ca,  is a compilation of my published pieces – and it gets updated when I have a few moments to spare (not oft enough!).  I live in Victoria with my fellow and two young children.
