Eastern Townships Quebec Pine Reproductions
The North Hatley Workshop
The North Hatley Workshop handcrafts Shaker and early New England furniture reproductions one at a time in our rural North Hatley Quebec workshop. Sources for our furniture designs include private collectors, historic buildings, New England restorations, museums, auction houses and antique dealers. All of our tables, benches, cabinets and chests are fabricated with Quebec pine and hardwoods. Please inquire about custom orders.

Our customers
Homeowners, decorators, architects and businesses who need just the right piece for their home or office, come to North Hatley Workshop. The casual, aged look of our furniture is especially suited to period antique houses, cottages, farm properties and beach houses.

How North Hatley Workshop furniture is made
We use mortise-and-tenon joinery and dovetails instead of staples and metal fastening systems, and smooth our boards with a hand plane just as oftern as a belt sander. We use only solid wood, no chip-board or veneer. We finish every piece by hand using oil stains, latex paints and wax, just like 18th century furniture, so the surface feels as good as it looks. And rather than mass-producing stock designs we custom design each piece to guarantee proper scale, composition and detail. We can also use antique boards, doors, and architectural elements from old Quebec and New England farmhouses and barns to create "new antiques" and colorful, one-of-a-kind pieces.
